After-care Instructions
Taking care of your brows after the procedure is an important part of your PMU brow journey. Following the after-care instructions will help with your brow retention and heal properly. Not following the after-care instructions can result in loss of retention, patchy brows, and infection.
Do:
-
Clean your brows morning and night with Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser or baby shampoo.
-
Pat your brows dry with a clean paper towel or cotton pads.
-
Sleep on a clean, fresh pillow case.
-
Wear a hat when in direct sunlight for the next 4 weeks.
-
After your brows are done peeling, you may put spf sunscreen on them to protect them from the sun.
-
If you were given ointment, only put a rice grain size amount on your brows 1-2 times a day. You need to let your brows breathe. Putting too much ointment will suffocate your brows and it won't heal well.
Don't:
-
Touch your brows with your fingers right after the procedure. Touching them with unclean hands will increase the chance of infection.
-
Put lotion, Vaseline, moisturizer or skin care products on your eyebrows while they are healing. You can put makeup and skincare on your brows after they are done peeling.
-
Fill in your brows with makeup while they are still scabbing. They can be filled when they are done scabbing and peeling.
-
Take hot, steam showers for the next 10 days. If you like to take hot showers, keep them short and avoid water from touching your brows.
-
Exercise or sweat for one week.
-
Tan or expose brows to the sun for 4 weeks.
-
Sleep on your face for the first 10 days.
-
Rub, scratch or pick you brows.
-
Excessively rinse and hot water on the brows.
*If you notice blood or plasma seeping from your brows, take a clean paper towel and wet it in cold water and pat your brows every 1-2 hours on the first day. Distilled water is best.
If you think your brows may be infected, please talk to your doctor.
